Oyotunji Village: A Trip To Africa In The United States

April 25, 2017

The oldest living African tradition on stolen soul exist in the small county of Sheldon. It is home to the Yoruba and known as the Oyotunji Village. It’s minutes off the highway, a half mile off a dirt road, and sits on about 15 acres of land. To the east of the Royal family lives and the west of the village several Priestesses and Priest live. In the center is where all the activity takes place and to the north of the land sits a rice plantation. The village still harvest its own food growing the essentials necessary to sustain life through farming. The spirit of the ancestors still dwell along an area not to far from the coasts of the Atlantic ocean where it is known in history as some of the earlier ports where our Ancestors entered onto this stolen land. Out in front of the Village before the gates sits a sign and that sign reads ” You are leaving the U.S. You are now entering the Yoruba Kingdom. In the name of his Efuntola, Peace welcome to the sacred Yoruba village built by priest of the Vodun cults as a tribute to our ancestors. These priest preserve the customs, laws, and religion of the African Race. Welcome to our land.” You immediately feel the spirit of this village upon entrance.

As the story of this village is told in a tour it’s eldest King was the 1st priest on United States soil to be named priest. He has as many as 14+wives and 22+kids and the population was as many as 250 people. The newest King of the village is a youthful 26 years of age and has 4 wives and 5 kids. I’m not advocating for polygamy or suggesting one should adopt every aspect of the village what I am advocating for is a sense of self perspective, and the ability to restore the African community paradigm by re-establishing those important cultural practices of our ancestors. In this we will find a sense of pride and accountability by giving ourselves a chance to heal within and out, but most importantly to reclaim a sense of perspective that we lost after being kidnapped and held against our will.

The entire land has been built by hand from every sense of the word. It’s painted every 2 years and continues to have multiple festivals a year pertaining to its original historic African practices. All over the Village we see the elegance of Africa embedded in the culture of the Yoruba. The women of the village hold an esteem position as Priestess which out number the amount of men priest. The village is also known for its mentor-ship with young African ladies as it is important to uplift the African woman as she is intended to be. You do not notice disrespect, misrepresentation, or commercializing a culture in this village. It’s ability to exist on foreign soil as a sovereign Nigerian nation should speak for itself. Yes the Greco-Roman European police feds or whoever are not welcome on the land and will be met with confrontation if they do not have permission from the King to enter. They have their own flags that hang high in the festival hall on the land and with honor will fight to protect its sovereignty.

One of the most mind-boggling things about this village is not too many people even know it exist. Yes it is a lot of Blacks that live in the state of South Carolina that have absolutely no idea that this village rest near the shores of the Atlantic coast. They maintain their culture by speaking the native language of the Yoruba, its names, dress, religious or spiritual practices, and maintaining it all by continuing the most important aspect uplifting the Black Woman. When people say let the Ancestors speak here is a place the Ancestors speak and they speak to the Village daily.

As Africans in America we can learn a lot from the people of Oyotunji, because they are centered in Africaness which the rest of us struggle to obtain daily. This key principle is why people like our Ancestors Doctors: Francis Cress-Wesling, Amos Wilson, John Henrik Clarke, Yosef Ben Jochannon, Chancellor Williams, J.A. Rogers, John G. Jackson, and many more fought and continue to fight to liberate the African mind and encourage one to know their story and remain centered in its perspectives. What we must do is take the knowledge and wisdom of our dear Sisters and Brothers of the village and implement them within our communities and combat the struggles we still face within. Remember it takes a village and that African concept has always been our greatest strength, and that is something that we must get back to in order to combat everything we face as a people today to change our tomorrow.

The Tragedy of Paul Kagame’s Rwanda

“RWANDA, Uganda, Burundi and their proxy militias are THE PRIMARY EXPLOITERS OF COLTAN IN THE CONGO”

Kagame’s regime in Rwanda has been nothing short of a disaster. On “Friends of the Congo” website, Rwanda’s role in robbing Congo’s resources are described as follows:

“RWANDA, Uganda, Burundi and their proxy militias are THE PRIMARY EXPLOITERS OF COLTAN IN THE CONGO. In an 18 month period Rwanda made $250 million as a result of exploitation of coltan in the Congo. Although Rwanda and Uganda possess little or no coltan, during the period of the war in the Congo, their exports escalated exponentially. For example, Rwanda’s coltan export went from less than 50 tons in 1995 to almost 250 tons in 1998. Zero cassiterite was transported from the Congo to Uganda in 1998, however by 2000, 151 drums were transported.1

Kagame’s forces invaded Rwanda in 1990 with the assistance of Uganda’s Museveni and, after destabilizing the country via mass killings, particularly in the north, took power. Some assert that it was Kagame who, in 1994, ordered the assassinations of Juvénal Habyarimana, president of Rwanda and Cyprien Ntaryamira, president of Burundi, both Hutus. In 1996, Rwanda and Uganda invaded Congo which resulted in million of deaths, many from starvation and disease caused by the fighting.

What we have here are two Afrikan “leaders”, Museveni (Uganda) and Kagame (Rwanda), who are obviously doing the bidding of american, european and israeli capitalists. Kagame was/is armed by them thus facilitating his bloody rise to power in central east Afrika.

And what about Kagame’s Rwanda today? Rwanda is the world’s leading producer of Coltan despite the fact that Rwanda has very little coltan itself2. In fact, as can be seen from the “Friends of the Congo” citation above, Rwanda’s incredible jump in “production” of coltan matches it’s invasion of Congo in 1990.

Kagame and his henchmen rule with an iron fist and continue to plunder Congo for its resources. The regime has supported proxy thugs like M23 in Congo to provide cover for its ongoing crimes. The “government” is hostile to dissent, the free press and, perhaps most importantly, the Truth. Political dissent and freedom of the press are not allowed in Rwanda. Dissenters are regularly jailed and, in some cases, assassinated.3

It is now a serious offense to question the “official narrative” about the “genocide” in Rwanda, Burundi and Congo. The official narrative is that the Hutu’s committed genocide against the Tutsi because of the Tutsi’s privileged positions in their respective societies. There are, however, competing narratives that suggest that the purpose of the entire gruesome, bloody affair is to enable american and european capitalists to secure unimpeded, cheap access to coltan and other strategic minerals.

Rwanda’s 2014 abstention from a UN Security Council resolution calling for israel to end its illegal occupation of Palestinian territories demonstrates the historically important role it has played as a capitalist doormat. To make matters worse, on March 28, 2017, Kagame rubbed salt in the wound by being the first Afrikan head of state to speak to, brace yourself, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in Washington, DC. Kagame gushed in his praise of israel, saying, “Rwanda is without a question a friend of Israel!4

Kagame and Museveni are, unfortunately, all too typical of the misleadership that Afrikans on the continent and throughout the Diaspora endure. We are still, in too many instances, dealing with what is effectively a neocolonial shituation. Let’s define neocolonialism:

1. The policy or practice of a wealthy or powerful nation in extending its influence into a less developed one, especially in EXPLOITING THAT NATION’S RESOURCES.

2. Political control by an outside power of a country that is IN THEORY SOVEREIGN AND INDEPENDENT, ESPECIALLY THROUGH THE DOMINATION OF ITS ECONOMY.

3. Domination of a small or weak country by a large or strong one without the assumption of direct government.

4. The policy by which a nation EXERTS POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC CONTROL over a less powerful independent nation or region.

We can see from the above definitions and a cursory examination of current world events that neocolonialism is alive and well in 2017. Clearly, Kagame’s Rwanda is a willing colonial agent assisting american and european capitalists to exploit Congo’s resources. The capitalists have always been able to find people to become agents on their behalf and, unfortunately, they will continue to do so. Like John Henrik Clarke said, “Money don’t just talk, it shouts and screams.” Rwanda is definitely on the capitalist payroll.

The real tragedy is that other Afrikan nations are not much better off. While their “leaders” might not be quite as monstrous as Kagame and Museveni, they are still, in far too many cases, assimilationist, greedy, and allergic to the creation and exercise of Afrikan Sovereignty, Self-Determination and True Democracy. The heads of state of the 14 Afrikan nations who WILLINGLY allow France to hold their NATIONAL RESERVES in French banks are another nightmarish example of an ongoing neocolonial relationship on the continent.5

In fact, it could be argued that Afrikans throughout the Diaspora are living with a similar neocolonial arrangement. In the Americas, the object of exploitation is not coltan but our labor and consumer dollars but that’s another story for another time.

Time for a Clean Break!

Rastafari Is A Revolutionary Movement

So, in essence, RASTAFARI ORIGINATED AS A REVOLUTIONARY MOVEMENT that took shape beginning in the 1930’s in Jamaica amongst the poor and downtrodden. It grew out of the determination of Afrikan people to RESIST and eventually OVERTHROW THEIR OPPRESSORS and REBUILD Afrikan High Culture. Its original focus was and, hopefully, remains one of Afrikan Liberation!

There’s a lot of b.s. out here today regarding Rastafari. Rastafari was created and emerged at a particular time in history, in a particular place, among a particular people for a particular purpose. Born in Jamaica among the poor ascendants of enslaved Afrikans in the early 1930’s, it grew slowly and deliberately until exploding into international consciousness in the late-1960’s and early-1970’s thanks to reggae music.

The pillars of Rastafari are:

  1. Afrikan people must remember and reclaim their Afrikan Identity;
  2. Human beings are innately divine;
  3. Afrika is the Sacred Homeland of Afrikan people;
  4. Knowledge of Afrikan history and culture is critical to gaining knowledge of self and the re-emergence of Afrikan High Culture;
  5. Afrikan people must return home to Afrika to once again live prosperous lives in Justice, Truth and Love;
  6. The Afrikan woman is the Nurturer of Human Life and should be respected as such;
  7. Emperor Selassie and Ethiopia are revered;
  8. Pan-Afrikanism and Afrikan nationalism are essential to achieving Self-Determination for Afrikan people; All Afrikan people are One and will once again rise to Power;
  9. Nature is the source of all knowledge and wisdom;
  10. Rastafari is Anti-Racist, Anti-Colonial, Anti-capitalist, Anti-Zionist, Anti-Slavery and Anti-War.

THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE IS NOT A FOUNDING DOCUMENT OF RASTAFARI! The founding documents of Rastafari such as the HOLY PIBY by Robert Athlyi Rogers, THE PROMISED KEY by Leonard P. Howell, and THE ROYAL PARCHMENT SCROLL OF BLACK SUPREMACY by Fitz Balintine Pettersburg still exist and can be read today by anyone interested. Many of those who were directly involved in the birth and evolution of Rastafari are still alive. There are many Rastafari thinkers who have discussed and written about the origins and Deep Thought of Rastafari. Consequently, there is no excuse to spread false doctrine.

Rastafari got its spark from Marcus Garvey’s prophecy that a king would be crowned in Ethiopia that would mean the liberation of Afrikan people was at hand. IT DID NOT EMERGE DIRECTLY FROM THE BIBLE. THE BIBLE WAS USED LATER TO JUSTIFY THE PROPHECY AND SUBSEQUENTLY IT CONTINUES TO BE USED.

Today, there are people all over the planet who claim Rastafari and know nothing about it. Many of them see it as a modern day “hippy culture” that merely engages in smoking marijuana, singing, dancing and listening to music. They do not acknowledge the founding ideas of Rastafari and insist on substituting pop culture in its place. This is particularly true of non-Afrikan “rastas” who have infiltrated the culture and profit from it 24-7.

Unfortunately, there are too many “rastas” who water down the revolutionary message of Rastafari in order to sell records and make money performing and djaying.

The following quote from the political analyst Horace Campbell is relevant:

“Race consciousness remains an integral part of the class consciousness of African peoples as long as Euro-American culture seeks to harmonize the economic and political domination of black peoples with attempts at destroying their cultural personality. Such a harmonizing project of dehumanization started in the era of the slave trade, when the day-to-day atrocities were unified by a cultural assault—whether French, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese or British—to impose European ideas and values on the dominated Africans.”

“In the face of cultural resistance—manifest in religious practices, the preservation of African languages, African medicinal and healing crafts, and musical forms of communication—and open slave revolts, the slavers deepened their racist theories, building upon the original biblical justification for racial inferiority with the kind of pseudo-science which led to the theories of Arthur Jensen (that black people were genetically inferior to white people).”-Horace Campbell (“Rasta and Resistance: From Marcus Garvey to Walter Rodney, Page 1”

The Time Is Ripe For Internal Revolution

In his most recent article, “Wall Street and the Pentagon: Pre-Mature Political and Military Ejaculations,” geopolitical analyst James Petras discusses the recent failure of American and European capitalists (AECs) in imposing their will on Argentina, Brazil and the Philippines to shore up their declining influence on “Latin America” and Asia. Over the past 30 years or so, AECs have largely changed their mode of production from manufacturing to F.I.R.E (Finance, Insurance & Real Estate) while still relying on the petrodollar. In 1960, 24% of all American workers worked in manufacturing.  Today, that number has declined dramatically to 8%. Today, the U.S. economy is marked by high unemployment, unsustainable national and personal debt, dysfunctional institutions including government bodies at all levels, the criminal justice system at all levels, public education, health care and brutal economic inequalities. This along with the concomitant economic rise of greater Asia, especially China, has seriously undermined the effective global power of the AECs, perhaps permanently.

Another very important factor in the AECs loss of global power is the recent emergence of alternative global mass media outlets. The appearance of mass media outlets such as al Jazeera (1996), founded and financed by Qatar, Telesur (2005), a multi-state funded, pan-American media platform largely sponsored by Venezuela, RT (2005), a Russian TV news platform, CNC World (2010), a Chinese satellite and cable network, means that AECs are no longer in exclusive control of the planet’s cultural narrative.

Even that staunch imperialist Zbigniew Brzezinski has been warning the AECs that the global masses are more politically awakened that at any time in human history; that these same masses can no longer be bullied and brainwashed as easily as before, consequently, the game is changing to the detriment of the capitalists. Brzezinski once argued along with other brash imperialists, that AECs must control central Asia in order to maintain their economic hegemony. This led to the invasion and ongoing conventional and hybrid wars in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Ukraine and Afghanistan, key nations in Asia’s “soft underbelly.” Yet, despite 25 years of war, AECs have been unable to impose their will in the ‘middle east.’ They have merely continued to drain their treasuries, especially America, France and England, and amplify global disdain for capitalism.

In other words, American and European capitalists no longer dominate this world. Their failing economies and their becoming merely another “voice in the crowd” in terms of global mass media (propaganda) means that “poor” nations in the southern hemisphere now have an opportunity change their miserable circumstances.

Globally, Afrikans should consider the following action steps (in no particular order):

1. Purge key institutions of corrupt individuals and practices

2. Repudiate all debt created by former colonizers, corrupt politicians and financial institutions

3. Create a PUBLICLY OWNED central bank with branches throughout the continent that will finance science, technology and infrastructure projects

4. Immediately join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the New Development Bank

5. Strengthen economic relations with other nations especially greater Asia, Russia, Brazil, the Caribbean, etc.

6. Develop an Afrikan currency backed by precious metals and other natural resources

7. Develop an Afrikan Centered continental public education system with particular emphasis on science and technology

8. Put an end to asymmetric economic relations with other nations, especially AECs

9. Create and nurture economic and cultural ties with Afrikans throughout the Scattering

The time is ripe for the long over due INTERNAL REVOLUTION that Gil Scott-Heron talked about almost 50 years ago in, “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.” AECs are under tremendous pressure due to the powerful economic and political shifts taking place globally. They are reeling from economic recessions, military failures and internal decadence. The question is, “Can we make the internal changes necessary to escape the capitalist trap of corruption, slavery, racism and war?”

One thing’s for sure, the required internal transformation entails rejecting capitalism, capitalist values and other anti-Afrikan ideologies and accepting Afrikan Centered HUMAN VALUES. It means totally reconstructing the Afrikan personality to fit current circumstances. Anything less means failing our posterity.

Let’s stay focused!

University Professor Denies that he Agreed to Debate Young Pharaoh Pt.2

Following the recent article entitled “University Professor denies that he Agreed to Debate Pharoah”, more clues have been brought forth about the young man “Guakhenaten” who initially set up the Dec 3rd so called “debate”. According to the email below Professor Elliot Altman received an email from a man who introduced himself as an owner of a Aviation Business Group in Nashville, Tennessee. As detailed in the Email below Professor Elliot Altman was invited to join an intellectual discussion by Morris who seems to be the Moderator of this event. The event entailed having an intellectual discussion with other intellects from across the nation, which was to occur December 3rd, 2016 at Tennessee State University.

Upon receiving the above email, Professor Elliot Altman responded back by email to Morris Eguakun concerning the event. He agreed that this event would be a great opportunity to be apart of. And as we can clearly see in the email below, Professor Elliot Altman had no idea that he was suppose to have a one on one debate with Young Pharoah. His agreement to join this event was based upon the previous email sent to him by Morris Eguakun. Which was to have a intelletual discussion with other Intellects from across the nation. And then after this discussion, the students would be allowed to ask those on the panel questions.

When the editor of Voices of Fire received these emails from Professor Elliot Eltman, I did my own investigation and found out that Morris Eguakun does not own a Aviation Group Business in Nashville, Tennesee as he told Professor Elliot Altman in the first email. Morris Eguakun is actually a student at Tennessee State University and is none other than Pharoah’s friend Guakhenaten referenced in his video. Our sources points us to a facebook page which a student from Tenessee State University name Morris Eguakun is also called “Guakhenetan”. He is majoring in Finance and Entrenuership. Coincidence? Or the same person?

Now let’s review the Key points of the story in context.

Keypoints of the Story

■ Young Pharoah published a video claiming that he secured a debate with a “Director of biology” Dr. Elliot Altman of the Middle Tennessee University.

■ Professor Elliot confirmed he was not aware of this debate that was suppose to take place between Him and Young Pharoah on December 3rd.

■ According to Young Pharaoh he does not know Professor Altman nor did he talk with him concerning the debate. Instead the debate was set up by a student of Tennessee State University who goes by the name “Guakhenaten”.

■ Professor Elliot Altman received an email from a man named Morris Eguakun who claim to be the Owner of a Aviation Business Group in Nashville, Tennessee about attending a intellectual discussion that he set up with other intellects from around the world, which was the opposite of what young pharoah claims

■Neither Morris nor Eguakun Altman discussed a debate in the emails, that Pharoah speaks of in his video.

■ Turns out Morris Eguakun is not even who he claimed to be in the email but is a student at Tennesse State University, and is none other than Guakhenaten.

In conclusion, when viewing young pharoah’s video, he claims that the donations for the event will given for Guakhenaten for setting up the debate. But from viewing all the information presented, it can be one out of two of these conclusions; Guakhenaten used pharoah to Solicit donations from the Conscious community by telling him that he set up a debate with the Professor which is not true or Guakhenaten and Pharoah both attempted to scam the community for donations. Either way, the Conscious Community seems to be a breeding ground for people like Pharaoh and Guakhenaten who’s questionable Methodology leave a trail of lies and deceit!
